THE LEGAL WAY TO COMMERCIAL SUCCESS

In a previous life your correspondent enjoyed a career in Brand Management with one of the leading blue chip Pharmaceutical and F. M. C. G. (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) companies.

The competitive environment in this industry meant that innovative, impactful, creative marketing was vitally important, albeit within the limits of strict professional, regulatory, legislative and company guidelines.

One of the key players in ensuring that the Company’s Marketing Department and the Advertising Agencies relevant creativity was allowed to flourish was the Company’s Legal Director – a commercial lawyer par excellence.

His ability to rapidly assimilate complex information, analyse a problem, summarise the legal situation and communicate a sound legal commercial judgment – was highly valued. His talent benefited the Company’s business and ultimately its profits. Whether giving advice on Employment issues, Health and Safety, Product Licensing, Investment or on a controversial advertising campaign his legal and commercial acumen was outstanding.

For small and medium sized enterprises the luxury of appointing a top class commercial lawyer at Director level may be unrealistic. However access to sound, trustworthy, reliable commercial legal advice – when needed- is a pre requisite for any successful organisation whether you are a sole trader, a major company or a Trade Association.

There are of course many firms of solicitors offering business services but it is important that you make your choice wisely to ensure the firm you select can contribute to your business success and work closely with your team.

In our area one such firm is Sandersons Solicitors who have offices in Hull and Beverley. Their Parliament Street base in Hull is the centre for their commercial services.

We spoke to Duncan Rann, the Firms Senior Partner who is qualified as a lawyer in both the USA and the UK who told us, ‘Sandersons philosophy is to understand commercial law and to provide sound innovative commercial and legal advice to benefit our Clients business.’

Founded in 1839 the Firm has grown to become a modern commercial practice which has moved with and sometimes ahead of the times. Their areas of expertise such as Taxation, Commercial, Commercial Disputes, Employment Sports Law and Asset Management distinguish them from practices of a similar size, and they offer a range of skills and expertise normally only found in large firms in major commercial centres.

They pride themselves on strong client relationships and have recently recruited more expertise as the practice expands.

If you are looking for innovative, legal commercial solutions and prefer not to appoint a Legal Director contact Sandersons.
