YOU'LL BE SACKED IN THE MORNING

This was the response from some sections of England supporters to the manager and their team’s performance in the recent European Championship qualifying matches against Israel and Andorra.  It highlighted the extreme pressure faced by professional football managers.

The demands exerted by the expectations of a high profile job and the intense media scrutiny mean that any manager’s employment contract, and in particular the compensation and termination clauses, needs to be carefully considered by both the employer and the employee.

No doubt the FA will have taken this into account prior to their latest appointment, particularly when they recall the significant compensation package which the previous incumbent was entitled to.

Whatever your business, you need to make sure that employment contracts and conditions comply with the latest regulations and legislation.  They should also be realistic and equitable to all parties concerned.

To make certain of this, you should take expert legal advice.  In our area, Sandersons Solicitors have an experienced commercial team who are well versed in employment law.  They also have significant experience in sports law, acting for professional clubs, participants and sporting associations.
