Children's Law at Sandersons

We are here to help you and your children

We represent parents of children who find themselves involved with social services for a variety of reasons. We can advise you and attend at certain meetings with you before court proceedings are issued and represent you at court should that be necessary.

We also represent the subject children in court proceedings, either via CAFCASS or directly depending on the child's age and level of understanding.

  • DRUGS AND ALCOHOL - if you or your partner has a problem with drugs and/or alcohol we will provide appropriate advice and signposting to various agencies who can assist and counsel you towards a healthier lifestyle together with appropriate parenting courses to demonstrate that any neglect your child may have suffered was due to the impact of substances rather than your inability to parent the child properly
  • DOMESTIC ASSAULT - if your partner is violent towards you then in addition to safeguarding you with non-molestation orders we can also provide details of courses and work to ensure that you are able to spot the early warning signs of possible abusers in future relationships to ensure that you and your child do not end up in a cycle of abuse.

If you yourself have been violent towards a partner and acknowledge the need to change the ways in which you cope with your anger and frustration to benefit you in parenting your child then we can provide appropriate advice regarding assessment and counselling to demonstrate a willingness and capability to change.
  • NON- ACCIDENTAL INJURIES - these can range from bruises, to fractures, to burns to brain injuries as a result of a baby being shaken. We have a great deal of experience in all aspects of allegations relating to non-accidental injuries and have details of a range of medical specialists whom can be approached to provide reports as to whether the injuries themselves are as a result of an accident or not. We have experience in finding genetic and medical causes for injuries that would otherwise have resulted in children being permanently placed away from parents.
  • SEXUAL ABUSE - We have expertise in representing both persons accused of abuse and also the partners of those accused. In this very delicate area we test the evidence in a sensitive yet skillful way to seek whether those allegations that are made are believable.
