Phil represents parents and children in care proceedings, and represents children in complex Child Arrangements Order applications.
Phil is regularly instructed in cases where there are concerns that the child has suffered or has been at risk of suffering physical harm, emotional harm, sexual harm and neglect, including where such concerns arise due to domestic abuse, drug and alcohol misuse and mental health concerns. .
Phil's real specialism is acting for parents who are alleged to have caused Non-Accidental Injuries (NAI) to their child, including fractures, skull fractures, bleeds on the brain and bruising. Phil has an excellent track record in evidencing to the Court that his client did not cause such injuries, and achieving the child being return to his client's care.
Phil has also successfully represented interveners in care proceedings who faced allegations that they had sexually abused a child.
Phil represents fathers who may have lost touch with their child, and then receive notice that their child is the subject of care proceedings. Phil ensures that family time is considered as soon as he is instructed, and also that his client receives thorough and fair assessment, and robust representation in Court.
Phil also acts for family members where the child is placed in their care, often with little notice, and a Child Arrangements Order is made during care proceedings in their favour. Phil is a strong voice in ensuring that all the support that is required, including financial support, is put in place.
Phil has a wealth of experience of representing teenagers in care proceedings, including applications for Care Orders, Secure Accommodation Orders and Deprivation of Liberty Orders under the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court.
Phil also advises parents where the Police have removed their child from their care under Police Powers of Protection.
Phil ensures that he personally conducts all meetings with clients, and prepares all his client's court statements himself, and all clients have Phil's mobile number so he is readily contactable.
Phil is ably supported by his very experienced personal assistant Amy Grady who can be contacted should Phil be unavailable due to attending court hearings or meetings.
